We here at The Dandelion Appreciation Society love Dandelions. We feel the Dandelion has gotten a really bad rap and has somehow become the quintessential scapegoat for all that is considered to be a "weed" in the world of the sterile toxic green lawn.
We are here to help educate to the contrary. Dandelions are one of the most beautiful and useful plants on the planet!

Utilitarian Uses

Utilitarian uses are everyday uses other than food or medicine. On this page MEMBERS can share tried and true recipes for dyes, paints, hair and body care or anything else they have found Dandelions to be useful for.

Dandelion Hair Rinse
Dandelions can be used like Chamomile or Marigolds to give light colored hair a 'Golden Glow'

Take as many Dandelion Flowers as you can gather and place in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil than turn off. Let sit covered till cool. Strain. Soak freshly washed hair with the infusion and wrap with a towel or bathing cap for at least 30 minuets. Rinse hair. Extra can be stored in the fridge for up to a week.

  3. Herbal products like shampoos will give consumers other options for treatment and care. Other chemical-based products may not be effective to everyone.
